Energy Saving Products

Window dressings can form a nice barrier between the inside and outside of your home, helping to keep the heat in and the cold out. By installing made to measure Blinds, Curtains & Shutters plus efficient insulation, you can reduce your monthly bills significantly.

Blind fabrics have come a long way in the past decade and more have thermal properties and energy ratings on them, giving the customer a better understanding just how certain fabrics will perform as barriers up at their windows.

Not all Blinds are the same and the closer these fabrics get to the window, the better their energy savings could be. For example, a Roller Blind fabric will have to be further away from the glass, to miss the handles, than a Perfect Fit Pleated blind. That means the cold air that could come from the window, has a greater area to circulate behind a Roller Blind than a Perfect Fit Pleated Blind, meaning more cold air between the window and the barrier.

Curtains must have linings on the back of them and with thermal and blackout linings being technically more advanced, having a wonderful set of Curtains with these types of linings, will make a super barrier. Just be careful where any radiators are positioned, as you do not want the warm air from your radiator to go behind the Curtains to just warm the windows and not the room.

Internal Shutters can also improve your energy efficiency. Window Shutters are one of the most energy-efficient window treatments on the market because they are crafted from solid materials, in contrast to the fabric of Curtains. This means they act as a barrier to prevent heat loss, helping insulate the room.

Having Blinds or Shutters with a set of Curtains would be the ultimate way to reduce your energy costs, making that barrier perfect to keep you warm inside and your home energy efficient.

Whist writing this Blog, I came across a brilliant article from Alex Peters of Shuttercraft. It gives great advice, help and tips on how to reduce your monthly energy bills.

It is well worth a read.
