Terms & Conditions

Introduction

These Terms & Conditions apply to all products and services supplied by John’s Blinds Limited, including blinds, curtains, shutters, awnings and shading systems.

They explain the basis on which we supply, manufacture and install our products. By placing an order with John’s Blinds Limited, you confirm that you have read and accepted these Terms & Conditions.

  1. Definitions

In these Terms & Conditions, “the Company” refers to John’s Blinds Limited.
“The Customer” refers to the individual or organisation placing an order.

These Terms apply to all products and services supplied by the Company including, but not limited to:

  • Blinds
  • Curtains and soft furnishings
  • Pelmets
  • Plantation Shutters
  • Curtain tracks and poles
  • Awnings and external shading systems
  • Accessories and related products

These Terms apply whether the products are manufactured by the Company or sourced from third-party suppliers.

  1. Acceptance of Terms

By accepting a quotation, paying a deposit or placing an order with John’s Blinds Limited, the Customer confirms that they have read, understood and accepted these Terms & Conditions.

These Terms & Conditions apply to all orders unless otherwise agreed in writing by the Company.

  1. Quotations

All quotations provided by the Company are valid for 30 days unless otherwise stated.

Quotations are based on information available at the time of the survey or consultation. While our surveyors will endeavour to identify potential installation issues, some conditions may not become apparent until installation.

If additional work is required that was not visible at the time of survey, this will be discussed with the Customer before proceeding.

Any delivery or installation dates provided are estimates only and may be affected by supplier lead times or circumstances outside the Company’s control.

  1. Orders & Made-to-Measure Products

All blinds, curtains, shutters, pelmets, awnings and shading systems supplied by the Company are made to the Customer’s specific measurements and chosen materials.

As these products are made to the Customer’s specifications, they are exempt from cancellation rights under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 once manufacture has begun.

Orders cannot be cancelled, amended or returned once production has commenced due to the bespoke nature of the products.

It is the Customer’s responsibility to ensure they are satisfied with the product type, material, fabric, colour and specification chosen at the time of order.

Due to the nature of manufacturing processes, minor variations in dimensions, alignment or fabric positioning may occur. Such variations are within normal manufacturing tolerances and do not constitute a defect.

  1. Surveys & Measurements

The Company may provide advice and guidance during surveys or consultations regarding product suitability.

However, it remains the Customer’s responsibility to ensure that the chosen products, materials, colours and finishes meet their expectations.

While every effort will be made to highlight potential installation issues during a survey, certain structural or site conditions may only become apparent at the time of installation.

Measurements and recommendations are based on visible conditions at the time of survey. The Company cannot be held responsible for concealed structural issues that were not reasonably identifiable during the survey.

  1. Payment

A minimum deposit of 50% of the total order value is required to confirm an order. In some cases full payment may be required prior to manufacture.

Deposits are non-refundable once the order has been confirmed due to the bespoke nature of the products.

Receipt of the deposit confirms acceptance of the quotation and these Terms & Conditions.

The remaining balance must be paid upon completion of installation, delivery or collection.

If installation is delayed because the property is not ready within four weeks of the agreed installation date, the Company reserves the right to request full payment.

Where products have been manufactured but installation is delayed at the Customer’s request, the Company may store the products for a reasonable period. The Company cannot be held responsible for delays caused by the Customer or for any issues arising from extended storage or delayed installation beyond the Company’s control.

All goods remain the property of John’s Blinds Limited until paid for in full.

  1. Delivery & Installation

Customers must ensure that the installation area is clear, safe and accessible at the agreed installation time.

Installation of blinds, curtains, shutters, tracks, awnings and shading systems may require drilling into walls, ceilings, window frames or surrounding structures.

While the Company will take all reasonable care during installation, the Company cannot be held responsible for:

  • hidden pipes, cables or services within walls
  • weak plaster, tiles or masonry
  • minor cosmetic damage resulting from normal installation work

The Company reserves the right to postpone installation if:

  • The installation area is obstructed
  • Access to windows is restricted
  • The working environment is deemed unsafe

Additional visits caused by access restrictions or site conditions may incur an additional charge.

  1. Product Care & Limitations

The Company cannot be held responsible for:

  • Customers changing their mind about colours, fabrics or product styles after installation
  • Structural issues with windows, frames, walls or surrounding areas
  • Damage caused by misuse, incorrect operation or accidental damage
  • Alterations made to windows or surrounding areas after the order has been placed
  • Work not included within the original quotation

Damage caused by condensation, damp environments or excessive moisture is not covered. Window coverings can reduce airflow around glass and may contribute to condensation forming on windows in certain conditions. The Company cannot be held responsible for condensation, mould or moisture-related issues arising from the environment in which the product is installed.

Due to differences in lighting conditions, screen displays and manufacturing processes, slight variations in colour, texture or pattern may occur between samples, brochures, website images and the finished product. These variations are considered normal and do not constitute a defect.

  1. External Products (Awnings & Outdoor Shading)

External shading products such as awnings are designed primarily for sun protection.

Customers must ensure that external shading systems are retracted during high winds, storms or severe weather conditions.

The Company cannot be held responsible for damage caused by adverse weather conditions or misuse of external products.

  1. Guarantees

Internal blinds, curtains, pelmets, tracks, poles and soft furnishings supplied by the Company carry a 12-month guarantee against defects in materials or workmanship from the date of installation, delivery or collection.

Shutters supplied by the Company carry a 36-month guarantee against defects in materials or workmanship from the date of installation, delivery or collection.

Awnings and external shading systems are supplied with a manufacturer’s guarantee, typically up to 5 years depending on the product, covering defects in materials or manufacturing faults. Full warranty details are subject to the manufacturer’s specific warranty terms and correct product use.

Installation work carried out by the Company is covered by the same guarantee period against faults in workmanship. This guarantee relates only to the installation carried out by the Company and does not cover issues arising from the structure or condition of walls, ceilings, window frames or surrounding building materials.

Installation of awnings and external shading systems is carried out with appropriate fixings suitable for standard construction materials. However, the Company cannot be held responsible for structural issues relating to walls, render, brickwork, cavity construction or other building conditions that may affect the long-term performance of the installation.

Awnings must be retracted during high winds or adverse weather conditions. Failure to do so may invalidate the manufacturer’s warranty.

This guarantee does not cover:

  • Normal wear and tear
  • Damage caused by misuse or incorrect operation
  • Damage caused by condensation or excessive moisture
  • Damage caused by adverse weather conditions
  • Failure to retract awnings during high winds or storms
  • Accidental damage
  • Building movement or structural conditions

After the guarantee period has expired, service visits may be subject to a call-out charge.

  1. Limitation of Liability

The Company shall not be liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from the supply or installation of products.

The Company’s liability shall not exceed the value of the goods supplied.

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability where it would be unlawful to do so.

  1. Consumer Rights

Nothing in these Terms affects the Customer’s statutory rights under UK consumer protection legislation.
